read.dta(file, 
         convert.factors = TRUE,

convert.factors: chuyển giá trị gán nhãn của STATA thành factor của R

convert.dates: chuyển ngày/giờ STATA thành Date và POSIXct

missing.type:

nếu FALSE, chuyển mọi kiểu thiếu thành NA
nếu TRUE, lưu cách giá trị bị thiếu trong thuộc tính

SPSS

read.spss()

          use.value.labels = TRUE,
          to.data.frame = FALSE)

use.value.labels: chuyển giá trị gán nhãn của SPSS thành factor của R

to.data.frame: trả về data frame thay vì list
